5th Grade Activities

Dear Parents of Fifth Grade Students,

It is incredible to believe, but we are quickly approaching the end of the school year for our students.

We would like to remind you that your child will be culminating his/her first level of a lifetime of education from Hooper Avenue Elementary School.  It is our sincere hope that all of our students continue their education by completing and graduating from high school and from a four-year college/university.  All of our students are capable of much success.   Please be aware that District Policy limits any activity that resembles a graduation prior to the high school.

All of the activities planned and provided at the year’s end are voluntary and we are under no obligation to provide them.  We are planning the following activities for our students and hope these events will prove to be memorable for them.

* Culmination Ceremony                     * 5th Grade Lunch with Teacher

* 5th Grade Culminating Field Trip       * 5th Grade Softball Game

For the CULMINATION CEREMONY, it is mandatory for your son/daughter to wear their school uniform on this day.  The following are prohibited: FORMAL GOWNS, OPEN-TOE SHOES, HIGH HEELS, TUXEDOS, LIMOUSINES, ETC.  We strongly urge you to place the additional money needed to purchase these items into your child’s college/university savings account.

As we approach the end of the school year, occasionally, some of our students feel that they can stop learning and do not need to exercise good behavior.  We need your continued support by encouraging our students to come to school every day and continue to exhibit their best behavior.  Any student who makes the decision not to follow our school rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, will not be permitted to participate in the activities identified above.

We ask that you review and discuss our expectations with your child at home.  Please sign and return the form below to your child’s teacher.

We thank you for your support and cooperation.

We have read and discussed the Fifth Grade Activities letter.  We are aware that every child has the same opportunity to participate in these activities.  We acknowledge that each child is personally responsible for his/her behavior and participation in these activities will be dependent on each child’s continued compliance with school rules and expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.
